Nancy Karp + Dancers returns to the ‘rotunda’ after 40+ years of dancemaking. In 1981, Nancy Karp + Dancers performed the site-specific work Overlapping Lines & Curves at SFMOMA featuring 10 dancers, with music composed by Nancy for two pianos and costumes by Jeanne Marc.
The 2024 Season will feature the San Francisco premiere of fly through the night, and land near dawn for 6 dancers, featuring commissioned music by California composer David A. Jaffe, performed live by Friction Quartet, with lighting/production design by Jack Carpenter and costumes by Sandra Woodall. Also on the program will the world premiere of a new work based on a series of short stories by American author Joan Wickersham, “The News from Spain: 7 Variations on a Love Story.”
