NANCY KARP + DANCERS is looking for new teachers for our fall 2022 ‘Dancing in the Schools’ outreach program. Classes will take place on Anna Yates Elementary School campus and will begin in mid-August. Our ideal candidate has professional-level experience teaching youth creative movement/dance in public school settings. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of youth dance instruction for lead role. Teaching assistants, preferably, should have 1 year of experience. Our youth program is an integral part of our annual programming and celebrates the artistic voice of diverse youth through arts practices.
Letters of recommendation are a plus.

Company Assistant
Nancy Karp + Dancers is currently accepting applications for a part-time Assistant to the Artistic Director. This will be a part-time hourly contract position for up to 18 hours per week at $22 to $24 per hour, depending on experience. The Assistant will report directly to Artistic Director Nancy Karp.
The Assistant’s primary responsibilities will be to support the Artistic Director with production and administrative tasks, as detailed below. Preference given to applicants with demonstrated work experience with dance and/or performing arts nonprofits. BIPOC people are strongly encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assistant to the Artistic Director – tasks may include:
- Production and program research
- Research and organize logistics and information
- Writing correspondence
- Attend performance rehearsals; provide support with logistics
- Attend program and/or production meetings; prepare meeting notes
- Attend quarterly board meetings
- Coordinate and maintain meeting and production schedules; distribute Zoom
and meeting details - Procure and organize materials for marketing and promotion
Additional Program Support
- Assist Artistic Director and Program Managers (such as ‘Dancing in the School’ outreach program) with projects as needed
- Performance and event support will include fundraising events organized by the dance company’s board of directors
- Assist Publicist with written materials and video for annual performance season
Communications
- Assist Social Media Director with preparing e-blasts and maintaining online company social media content (Facebook, Instagram)
- Attend community events and conduct outreach to represent Nancy Karp + Dancers as requested
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in Nancy Karp + Dancers’ strategic planning and annual board retreat
- Performance and event support will include fundraising events organized by the dance company’s board of directors
- Support Nancy Karp + Dancers goals with other tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Strong desire to support Nancy Karp + Dancers’ mission
- Understanding and appreciation of dance and/or performance arts
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in program/production work, operations/admin, and/or office management; preference given to relevant experience in dance/performing arts fields
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Ability to interact with diverse community of artists, production crew members, administrative staff, parents, and education, community, and production partners
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Well organized with attention to detail
- Ability to manage and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage a varying workflow and flexibility to respond thoughtfully and quickly
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs for the Mac, Google Suite, Zoom, social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook), and cloud-based record-management systems
(Google Drive, Dropbox)
Working Conditions
Flexible hours, in-person and remote (more time in the Emeryville studio may be required as we approach our annual performance season this year – October 2022). Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for programming and production needs.
