piano piano, 2020
“piano piano”, is a site-specific work created for the Dresher Ensemble Building and Studio in West Oakland. The work invited audiences through the building’s hallways, balconies, and central floor space, featuring the music of composer Jay Cloidt.
Nancy Karp speaks of the Italian expression piano piano, “The essence of this work is derived from the Italian expression, “piano piano” which means: slowly slowly; gradually, gently, carefully; take your time; don’t rush – you’ll figure it out”.
